The Storerooms west of the Theater

West of the theater, the remains of a large long structure divided into large and small units terraced one above the other were uncovered; this appears to have been a storage complex built as a number of long and narrow halls, as is already familiar from other Herodian sites, such as Masada and Mukawir. The complex joins the already-known storage facilities, among them the series of long halls in the foundations of the Lower Herodium Large Palace, and the two storeys of storerooms in the base of the hilltop Palace-Fortress’ outer perimeter; the area of storage facilities thus exceeds 2,000 sq. meters, showing the sites’ administrative importance.
